brief history
Jeff Sowerby studied architecture at the University of Sheffield and qualified as an architect in 1979, registering with the Architects' Registration Board in that year.
After working for three London architectural practices including Jestico + Whiles, his architectural practice opened in the City of London in 1984 where clients included Freddie Mercury. The practice relocated to Sheffield in 1989, concentrating mainly on residential work while also undertaking projects for restaurateurs, publicans, dentists, people with disabilities, the MOD, sports clubs and social clubs. In short, he'll work for just about anybody.
the practice
Jeff Sowerby Architect is a private architectural practice comprising one sole practitioner working from an office within the private house shown on the home page and elsewhere.
No staff salaries and no office rent mean very competitive rates, and because the practice turnover is kept below the VAT threshold, no VAT is added to invoices.
No job too small. Or too large, for that matter.
carbon footprint
Jeff is a vegetarian with no kids and no pets who doesn't travel to work and who lives in a house with solar panels, a heat recovery system and underfloor heating. Beat that.
